Current Employer: Del Monte Foods. Human Resources Supervisor. As a Human Resources Supervisor, I manage all day to day HR Generalist duties. 

Education: B.A. in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications and Human Resources from Columbia College Chicago, enrolled in the Executive MBA  program w/HR Concentration through Jack Welch Management Institute.

Tonya Hobbie

SMAHRA Board Position: Diversity Chair and New Member Liaison

Current Employer:  Bolton & Menk, Inc. Provides leadership and direction for all corporate/company Human Resources initiatives, programs and department  team. Develops and facilitates leadership and employee training programs, coaching and creates content for LMS.  Oversight and configuration of HRM system.

SMAHRA Board Position: Social Media/Marketing Director

Current Employer:  HR Generalist at V-TEK, Inc. Handling the day to day operations of Human Resources, which entails recruiting, onboarding, benefits, and overall employee relations.

Education:  B.S. in Business Management with an emphasis in Human Resources at Minnesota State University – Mankato.

Specialty and/or HR Passion: I enjoy being around people and interacting with them. I also believe that HR is in a unique position that has the capability to make organizational change for the better which drives me to be the best I can be!

SMAHRA Board Position: Workforce Readiness Chair

Current Employer:  MRCI. Advise individuals on how to find and keep employment. Maintain relationships with employees and employers. Facilitate the coordination of employment goals and on-going supports for long term employment. Teach Bridge to the Future skills class to transitioning youth. Conduct on-the-job training classes and demonstrate the principles of soft skills needed in the work place.

Heidi Suess

SMAHRA Board Position: Secretary

Current Employer:  Blue Earth County. As a Human Resources Specialist, I provide support and guidance to management and employees.  Administer FMLA and ADA compliance, conduct employee investigations, update policies and procedures, coordinate training and employee onboarding to name a few things.

Education: B.S. in Human Resource Management from Minnesota State University-Mankato

Specialty and/or HR Passion: At my work, I am a co-chair for the Technology Training Committee and member of the Safety and Wellness Committee.  I am passionate about partnering with leadership, achieving goals, continuous improvement and helping others.

I assist job seekers with resume and interview coaching and ultimately help find the perfect match for candidates and employers resulting in temporary and permanent hires.

Education: Bachelor’s in Psychology with a Human Resource minor from MNSU Mankato

Current Employer: Jones Metal, Inc. I am the HR Manager and a department of one at Jones Metal which keeps me very busy.  I handle all facets of human resources for the company as well as safety.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Business Management with an emphasis in HR from Minnesota State University, Mankato

Specialty and/or HR Passion: I really enjoy the compliance, employment law side of HR as well as employee development.  The most rewarding part of HR for me has been being able to help employees advance their careers by providing them with resources to further their education.

Current Employer: Gislason & Hunter LLP. I am an associate attorney who focuses her practice on employment law and family law. I enjoy assisting human resources professionals navigate through the ever-changing employment and labor laws to support their employers and minimize workplace issues.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management from MNSU, Master of Business Administration (MBA) from MNSU, and Juris Doctor (JD) degree from Univ of Arkansas School of Law.
